‘EXTENDED’ PET INDUSTRY (‘EPI’) IS ‘COMMODITIZING’ COMPANION ANIMALS & CAUSING UNNECESSARY SHELTER INTAKE, IMPOUNDMENT TRAUMA AND SHELTER KILLING THROUGHOUT THE U.S. ( f.t.v).

This blog will describe which stakeholder categories are included in the term, ‘EPI’. An important distinction first must be made as to where the ‘extended’ pet industry, i.e. “EPI”, ‘helps’ companion animals but also where it is to their tremendous detriment. Understanding these relationships is extremely important background for the citizen and consumer actions urged in our other blogs. The EPI is all too happy to assist companion animals…but largely only via ‘adoptions’ and only AFTER they have been impounded and subjected to the associated impoundment trauma. Even this “too-late-and-therefore-much-too-little” assistance certainly is not entirely magnanimous on the part of the pet industry as adopted animals are ‘recycled’ back into society where they once again become ‘customers’ for pet industry goods and services. http://standupfordogs.tumblr.com/post/101453923721/extended-pet-industry-epi-is-commoditizing
